The Centre

Our “Vision of Commitment” illustrates the mission and mandate of the Rocky Mountain Grizzly Centre to preserve a balanced ecosystem. We believe that it is the highest expression of humanity to acknowledge and accept our responsibility of caring for the grizzly bear and its environment. It is our intention to develop a centre in affiliation with academic institutions that will be at the forefront of scientific research. Located in a Rocky Mountain wilderness that supports a significant grizzly population, the Fernie-based Rocky Mountain Grizzly Centre will collect, assimilate, and disseminate scientific data to be used in support of research, education and interpretation that benefi ts the grizzly bear, humans and the environment of the southern Rockies. These activities will be housed in an environmental state-of-the-art complex of buildings that will archive data, facilitate researchers and house educational and interpretative displays as well as provide a venue for discussion and debate and a centre for community meeting.
